confucious

sunday was a little more laid back
we started off by celebrating the b-day of a certain
beautiful lady who wishes to remain anonymous...cliff and i then wandered over to lotus lake
only to discover the lake was...missing?
but we were not to be deterred!
and entered the dragon anyways
we then discovered that the lotus part of the lake
had found refuge in a small nearby pondin the end confucious explained all things to us
and we continued our day in peace

shaolin monks

my first day was a little road trip into the countryside
we arrived at the first village
and stumbled upon some shaolin monks...
working on their technique...
i declare this my official "picture of the day"as we wandered i learned that leanne is a country girl
however the typical country house is a little different over herec&l have been in these parts before but not with a car,
so we went places even they had not been
like this clay gallery....
and a place where they made paper umbrellasto end the day we dined vip style
courtesy of a friend of c&l
talk about hospitality...

peanuts

landing in Taipei
on my way to the speed train
i felt like i had entered a peanuts episode
with adults all around and
charlie brown and friends
to interpret for me

Lord's Land...and area

My latest weekend adventure took me to a place called the Lord's Land, a former hippie commune up close to Mendocino, CA. A cabin in the woods and trails aplenty. All of the cabins were made by hand by the people living there, very few rules were followed. I was relieved we got one with an indoor bathroom.

It was great to get out of the city, but my head was happy when we were finished driving on all the twist and turny roads. For more pictures...Lord's Land

the perfect saturday

An early morning swim, a sunny afternoon of lounging and reading in the park, and then a wonderful meal at my new favorite around-the-corner-Indian-food-in-a-bar restaurant. (Kenny, I couldn't help but think you would like this place.)

Every day should feel this good.

memories

The last time we spoke I told him about these.
I stood on the dock admiring their beauty certain he would see it too.

His travel agent was on the search for tickets to SFO,
I had begun my list of places he and my mom would like.

It was the day the rest of the family would be together.
I had wanted to sneak in a visit before all the action began.

I'm glad I called.

tree time!

it's pretty early to do this kind of thing
but if i wait any longer there will be little time to enjoy.
so today my housemate and i put up our very own tree
and decorated with lights and balls and glittery things.
we may even do a string of popcorn,
if we can find some without butter that is...

butterflies

I just had a visitor. It was brief, but I'll take dinner with my brother anytime. :)

Meanwhile, in between time with friends, the rest of life remains a bit of a challenge; not horrible but if there was a way to truly escape I'd be all for it. Instead, there is little to do but face it head on or find a big hole to hide in. I'm still debating. No details, sorry.

On the lighter side, my nephew Tate's fascination with puzzles has rubbed off on me; my roommate and I just completed a 500 piece puzzle. It has butterflies & hummingbirds. :)

the boys are back in town

That is actually the song that went through my head when I first heard the Blue Angels practicing in the San Francisco skies on Thursday. I love when they show up, one can sense the anticipation for their shows on the weekend. This year I was tipped off by a postman about a really wonderful spot, hidden away from most eyes but with an excellent view.

Fleet Week is a celebration of the US Navy, US Marine Corps, & US Coast Guard and throughout the week you can take tours of the various ships that come into port.
even Canada decided to show up for the party

four of the six Blue Angels; almost looks like they're linking arms
The closest that it came, my shutter speed wasn't quite fast enough for this guy.
Literally takes the breath away.
for the rest of the pictures go to Fleet Week 2007

I'm a week back from a too short trip home.
It was good to see family and friends once again.

unfortunately they were equally determined to stay alive
walt & sherrie
updating their pictures :)
sometimes the best family photos are the bloopers :)
milo...our interaction was limited but simple,
it was "treat me right or I will show how good my lungs are"
tate...such a ham when he wants to be
who knows where he gets it from...
