A San Francisco Moment

I was supposed to go on a hike with a friend one day in October. We were to leave early in the morning and spend our day exploring the woods of Marin County. Five hours later and many phones calls of "sorry I am 'still' running late" from her and we opted for lunch with another friend and a more local hiking location. The lunch was great.

On the way back to our car, my friend noticed this guy sitting on his roof playing a banjo. I thought - what a great photo! (why else would we have this picture here :) She thought - Let's go join him! What the?! Turn's out she had a yukalalee in her car. I told her she should probably ask him before she breaks out her gear.

Five minutes later we are sitting on the roof talking to him and his roomate. They all had their stringed instruments and brought me a congo drum - you know, so I could be all rythmic. Ha!

Most of the time was spent with my friend trying to tune her yukalalee to the banjo. I think they made it through one song and I of course amazed them all with my rythmn skills... After talking with them for a bit, my friend & I decided to forego the hiking all together and walked around North Beach hoping to catch a glimpse of the famed "parrots of Telegraph Hill."

Comedy.

Yosemite National Park

Here's my friend Trisha at the beginning of our hike up to Glacial Point. The Four Mile Trail is actually 4.6 miles one-way. Our estimated time for the total trip 5-6 hours.

Me somewhere along the way.
Our legs were not in major protest at this point.

Finally at the top! We would have loved to linger in the moment but the wind was cold and complete darkness only a few hours away.
One of the views we saw all the way up and down the mountain. If we hadn't of been wanting for air all the way up, the views and the way they changed with the light it would have taken our breath away.
